The influence of cannabidiol (CBD) on focus and reaction time

Abstract:

V bakalářské práci se zabýváme tím, zdali dokáže CBD olej ovlivnit reakční dobu a pozornost. V teoretické části práce jsou obsažené základní informace o CBD, jeho účincích na lidské tělo a dostupných CBD produktech. Dále se věnujeme podrobnějšímu popisu endokanabinoidního systému. Poskytujeme informace o látkách, které se nacházejí v CBD oleji Enecta, který byl použit pro náš výzkum. Popisujeme motorické schopnosti, jejichž součástí jsou reakční rychlostní schopnosti. A nakonec se zmiňujeme o pozornosti, včetně jejích druhů a vlastností. Cílem práce bylo zjistit, zda má CBD olej vliv na reakční dobu a pozornost. Výzkum byl proveden metodou dvojitě slepého experimentu. Účastníci byli rozděleni do dvou skupin a v rámci každé skupiny byla náhodně vybrána polovina z nich, které byl podán CBD olej a polovina, které bylo podáno placebo. Následující týden byly vzorky podány opačně. Při výzkumu jsme pro získání potřebných dat využili reaktometr a Test pozornosti d2. Veškerá naměřená a vypočítaná data jsou prezentována v grafech a tabulkách. Výsledky byly statisticky zpracovány pomocí programu STATISTICA a doplňku Analýza dat v softwaru Microsoft Excel. Na základě těchto výsledků bylo zjištěno, že aplikace CBD oleje nemá vliv na reakční dobu a pozornost.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with that, whether CBD oil can affect reaction time and attention. The theoretical part of the thesis contains basic information about the CBD, its effects on the human body and available CBD products. It also contains more detailed description of the endocannabinoid system. Information about the substances present in CBD oil Enecta which was used for the research are included in the theoretical part as well. It also describes motor abilities such as reaction speed abilities. And lastly, it mentions attention including its types and attributes. The main goal of the thesis was to find out, whether CBD oil can affect reaction time and attention. The research was done by a method called double blind experiment. Participants were divided into two groups and then within these groups they were randomly devided into a half that got the CBD oil and a half that got a placebo. The samples were served the other way around the following week. The reaction time meter and Test of attention d2 were used during the research to gather the necessary data. All of the measured and calculated data are presented in graphs and tables. Results were statistically processed by a program called STATISTICA and by an add-on Analysis of data in Microsoft Excel software. Based on these results, it was found out that use of the CBD oil does not affect reaction time and attention.
