Factor Comparison of Accepting Euro before and after Admittance of Slovakia into Monetary Eurozone

Abstract:

ANNOTATION The recent integration of Slovakia into the European union was from the historical view the unique and unrepeatable period. The date of 01.01.2009 introduced the moment that shall be recorded into the history of our Republic. We have adopted a new EURO currency. However, the adoption has been preceded by the achievement of convergent, i.e. Maastricht criteria, which we are straining to maintain during the present times of economical and financial crisis. The creation of EUR is justified by the number of advantages and benefits, that the unified currency offers against the former situation when each member state had its own currency. The EUR not only eliminates the risks of price variation, currency exchange fees and strengthens unified market, however, it also represents a key to the closer co-operation of the member states on the field of stable currency and economy for the benefit of all of us, even in spite of the loss of national identity. These papers introduce the overview of the fulfilment of given estimations of Slovakia as well as the view on their fulfilment after joining the currency union.

Abstract:

ANOTÁCIA Historicky jedinečným, neopakovateľným obdobím v našich dejinách bol len pred nedávnom proces integrácie Slovenska do Európskej únie. Deň 01.01.2009 nám priniesol znova okamih, ktorý sa zapíše do dejín našej republiky. Prijali sme novú menu euro. Avšak prijatiu predchádzalo splnenie konvergenčných tzv. maastrichtských kritérií o ktorých udržateľnosť sa v týchto časoch hospodárskej a finančnej krízy snažíme. Vznik eura je zdôvodnený množstvom predností a výhod, ktoré ponúka jednotná mena oproti predchádzajúcej situácii, keď mal každý členský štát vlastnú menu. Euro nielenže odstraňuje riziká kolísania cien, zmenárenské poplatky a posilňuje jednotný trh, ale predstavuje kľúč k užšej spolupráci členských štátov na poli stabilnej meny a hospodárstva v prospech nás všetkých, hoci pod rúškom straty národnej identity. Táto práca prináša prehľad plnenia daných kritérií Slovenskou republikou ako aj pohľad na ich plnenie po vstupe do menovej únie.
