Learning Strategies of French as Foreign Language at French Upper Secondary Comprehensive School GML in Brno

Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Strategie učení francouzštině jako cizímu jazyku na Gymnáziu Matyáše Lercha v Brně“ zkoumá používání strategií učení na dvojjazyčné francouzsko-české sekci gymnázia na základě klasifikace strategií Rebeccy Oxfordové (1990) a jejího inventáře strategií SILL (1990), který byl společně s doprovodným dotazníkem použit pro diagnostiku používání strategií. Práce je rozdělena na tři části. První z nich vychází z teoretických východisek strategií učení (vymezení pojmu, klasifikace a deskripce strategií), druhá popisuje průběh a metodologii výzkumu a třetí prezentuje výsledky výzkumu. Souhrnné výsledky ukazují frekvenci i výběr jednotlivých strategií i jejich skupin v rámci celé dvojjazyčné sekce. Práce dále prezentuje výsledky používání strategií v rámci průřezového výzkumu ve všech ročnících dané sekce a vliv vybraných proměnných na frekvenci i výběr strategií.

Abstract:

This Diploma thesis „French language learning strategies as a foreign language at Matyáš Lerch Grammar School“ examines the application of learning strategies at French-Czech bilingual section of the grammer school. The research is based on Rebecca Oxford's strategy classification and her SILL inventory (1990), that is jointly with the supporting questionnaire used for the assessment of strategy usage. The thesis is divided into three sections. The first stems from a teoretical resource of the learning strategies (notion's definition, the strategy classification and descriptions), the second describes the procedure of the research and its metodology, and finally the third presents the results of the research. The summary-result displays a frequence and a choise of particular strategies as well as its groups in the frame of the whole bilingual section. Further the thesis presents the results of the strategy application within the scope of the cross-sectional research in all grades of particular section and it also describes the influence of chosen variables upon the frequency and the strategy selection.
