Manual Lymphatic Drainage as Part of the Occupational Therapy intervention for People with Carpal Tunnel

Abstract:

Teoretická část obsahuje poznatky z anatomie ruky, možné příčiny vzniku, příznaky subjektivní i objektivní a léčbu tohoto syndromu. Hlavní cílem mojí práce bylo včlenit manuální lymfodrenáž HK do postupu terapie poskytované ergoterapeutem během konzervativní léčby před operací. Náplní praktické části je práce s konkrétní klientkou - studium anamnézy, provedení vstupního vyšetření, sestavení krátkodobého plánu, popis vlastní terapie a navrhnutí dlouhodobého ergoterapeutického plánu. Terapie byla zaměřena na zlepšení hybnosti kloubů ruky, snížení otoku zápěstí a prstů horních končetin, snížení pocitů brnění, obnovení čití. Následuje shrnutí práce s klientkou, zhodnocení dosažení cílů terapie a další prognóza.

Abstract:

The theoretical part contains findings from anatomy of the hand, possible causes of the onset, subjective and objective symptoms and treatment of this syndrome. The main goal of my work was to incorporate lymphatic drainage of the upper limbs into the therapy procedure provided by the therapist during the conservative treatment prior to surgery. The practical part is to work with a particular client - to study anamnesis, to perform an initial examination, to prepare a short-term plan, to describe his own therapy and to propose a long-term occupational therapy plan. Therapy was aimed at improving the momentum of the joints of the hand, reducing the wrist and fingers of the upper limbs, reducing the tingling sensation, restoring the senses. The following is a summary of the work with the client, an evaluation of the achievement of therapy goals and another prognosis.
