Organizational culture of Komerční banka, a. s.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá firemní kulturou Komerční banky, a. s. V první části jsou vysvětleny základní pojmy související s kulturou a zmíněny prvky, typy a determinanty firemní kultury. Dále je zde uvedena teorie týkající se společenské odpovědnosti firem a etického kodexu. Druhá část se věnuje výhradně Komerční bance, tj. jejímu vzniku, vývoji a úspěchům. Následuje třetí část, kde je rozebrána společenská odpovědnost KB, konkrétně spokojenost klientů, odpovědné podnikání, vztah banky k životnímu prostředí, pozitivní přístup k inovacím, charitě a zaměstnancům. Praktická část pak vychází z výsledků dotazníkového šetření provedeného za pomoci zaměstnanců KB. Hlavní cíl práce spočívá v charakterizování firemní kultury KB a ve zjištění, zda se v této bance jedná o silnou nebo slabou firemní kulturu. Dalším cílem je představit firemní kulturu jako prostředek pro posílení společnosti oproti konkurenci a jako nástroj k získání konkurenční výhody.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis deals with the organizational culture of the bank Komerční banka, a.s. Its first part explains basic terms and concepts regarding to culture and mentions the elements, types and determinants of organizational culture. The concepts of a firm’s social responsibility and code of ethics are further introduced from a theoretical standpoint. A second part concerns itself exclusively with Komerční banka, particularly its inception, development and successes. A third part follows, analysing the corporate social responsibility of KB, specifically customer satisfaction, responsible entrepreneurship and the bank’s relationship to the environment, its positive approach to innovation, charity and its own employees. The practical part then arises from the results of a survey conducted with the help of KB employees. The work’s main goal consists in a characterization of KB’s organizational culture and the ascertainment of whether the bank’s culture typifies a strong or weak one. Another goal comprises the introduction of organizational culture as a means for the strengthening of an organization against its competition and as a source of competitive advantage.
