Pre-implementation analysis of ERP system NetSuite to a library

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je provést předimplementační analýzu nasazení ERP systému Oracle NetSuite pro provoz paměťové instituce, konkrétně knihovny. Takovou implementaci bude možné využít v organizaci, která řešení Oracle NetSuite již využívá, nebo v organizaci, která preferuje cloudové řešení. Dalším z cílů práce je porovnání tohoto řešení s existujícími systémy jako je Koha, která je od počátku vyvíjena jako knihovní systém. Ke splnění cílů práce nejprve v teoretické části pojednává o informačních systémech a automatizovaných knihovních systémech (AKS) obecně. Dále jsou analyzovány stěžejní knihovní procesy, které musí AKS pokrýt. Diskutován je termín cloud, jeho historie a jeho rostoucí obliba. V praktické části je představen systém Oracle NetSuite a jeho historie, klíčové funkce a komponenty, které jej umožní nasadit v téměř jakémkoliv prostředí. Praktická část je vedena formou projektu a předimplementační analýza je zasazena do šablony pro business requirement document (BRD). Výsledkem je studie možnosti zasazení knihovních procesů z teoretické části v konkrétním prostředí ERP Oracle NetSuite a analýza situací, které systém nedokáže pokrýt kompletně.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with pre-implementation analysis useability of ERP system Oracle NetSuite into a memory institution, a library in this case. Such implementation could be used for an organization already running Oracle NetSuite solution or an organization that prefers cloud solution. Another goal of this thesis is to do a comparison with existing solutions developed specifically for libraries, such as Koha. In order to achieve this goal, firstly, automated library systems in general are discussed in theoretical section. Analysis of main librarian processes and its critical parts follows. Next, cloud as a term is discussed, including its history and increasing popularity. In the practical section, ERP system Oracle NetSuite is introduced, including its history, its key functions, and its components. Those features make this system a universal solution that is able to cover the needs of almost all organizations. Practical section is led as a project and it is outlined by a template for business requirement document. The result of this thesis is a study of implementation of librarian processes discussed in the theoretical part in the environment of Oracle NetSuite, as well as study of situations, where this system is not fully feasible.
