Abstract:

Cílem této práce je analyzovat, jak určité faktory, jako je vzdělání, etnicita a ekono-mická situace, ovlivňují roli žen ve Rwandské společnosti. Autorka používá sekundární zdroje, jako jsou akademické články, knihy, publikace mezinárodních institucí, ne-vládních a vládních organizací a další publikace. Budou analyzovány relevantní statis-tiky z Národního statistického institutu ve Rwandě, Freedom House a Světové banky, aby se analizovaly faktory, které ovlivňují roli žen ve Rwandské společnosti. Grafy a tabulky budou použity k dalšímu popisu a vysvětlení určitých témat. Relevantní zprávy Human Rights Watch a Rozvojového programu OSN budou zahrnuty mezi další rele-vantní zdroje. Studie odhalila, že úroveň hospodářského a sociálního rozvoje Rwandy je jedním z hlavních faktorů, které významně ovlivňují roli žen ve společnosti, zejmé-na pokud jde o vzdělání a jeho dostupnost pro ženy, ekonomickou samostatnost žen a schopnost žen získat dobře placené zaměstnání. Hospodářský a sociální rozvoj Rwandy však pramení také ze špatné situace v zemědělství, což je hlavní živobytí většiny rwandských žen. Závisí také na nedostatku půdy, který je způsoben vysokou hustotou obyvatelstva, která byla zjištěna analýzou kvalitativních a kvantitativních dat. Na zá-kladě mého výzkumu se domnívám, že ve rwandské společnosti existují tři potenciální problémy. Za prvé, za genderovou rovností leží silná etnická identita, která upřednost-ňuje elitní skupinu na úkor většiny běžných žen a občanů, což může v budoucnu podní-tit rostoucí nespokojenost a nebezpečí etnických konfliktů. Za druhé, patriarchát má ve společnosti stále silnou roli a je podporován politikami, což často zhoršuje situaci žen. Zatřetí, politiky rovnosti žen a mužů mají pouze získat legitimitu vlády, jedná se tedy o plnění statistik a požadavků dárců, jejichž finanční pomoc je životně důležitá. Rwanda je výjimečná země plná kontrastů, která si zaslouží další zkoumání, aby bylo možné analyzovat, zda by dlouhodobější zastoupení žen v politice mohlo vést ke zlep-šení role žen ve Rwandě.

Abstract:

The objective of this thesis is to analyze how certain factors, such as education, ethnicity, and economic situation influence the role of women in the society of Rwanda. The author uses secondary data, such as academic articles, books, publications of international institutions, NGOs and governmental reports, and other publications. Relevant statistics from the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda, Freedom House, and World Bank will be analyzed in order to find out the factors that influence the role of women in the society in Rwanda. Charts and tables will be used to further describe and explain certain issues. Relevant reports of Human Rights Watch and the United Nations Development Program will be included among other relevant sources. The study revealed that the level of economic and social development of Rwanda is one of the main factors that significantly affect the role of women in society, especially in relation to education and its availability for women, women's economic autonomy, and women's ability to obtain well-paid jobs. However, the economic and social development of Rwanda also stems from the poor situation in agriculture, which is the main livelihood of the majority of Rwandan women. It is also dependent on a shortage of land, which is caused by the high population density, which was found out by the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data. Based on my research, I believe that there are three hidden dangers in Rwandan society. Firstly, behind gender equality lies the strong ethnic identity, favoring an elite group at the expense of the majority of ordinary women and citizens, which may fuel the growing dissatisfaction and danger of ethnic conflict in the future. Secondly, patriarchy is still intertwined within society, and policies support it, and often worsen the situation of women. Thirdly, the policies of gender equality are only to gain the legitimacy of the government, so it is about meeting statistics and requirements of donors whose financial assistance is vital. Rwanda is an exceptional country full of contrasts that deserves further examination to analyze whether, in the longer term, the increased representation of women in politics could lead to the improved role of women in Rwanda.
