Philosophy as Medicina Mentis
Abstract:
Práce je zaměřena na pojetí filosofie jako utěšitelky a rádkyně. Zabývá se díly Epikúra, pozdních stoiků a Boëthia. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována problémům blaženosti, štěstí, duševního klidu, vztahu k majetku a slávě a především problému smrti. Přináší též zamyšlení nad aktuálním významem helénistické epochy a etiky sklonku antiky.
Abstract:
The thesis is focused on the concept of philosophy as a comforter and mentor. This thesis deals with writting of Epicurus, of the late Stoics, and Boëthius. Particular attention is devoted to the problems of beatitude, happiness, peace of mind, relation to property and glory, and especially on the problem of death.
