Reasons of unemployment in the district Poprad

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of causes of unemployment in the district of Poprad. The main objective of the thesis is to analyze unemployment and the labor market in the Poprad district, to identify the factors of unemployment and their causes in the Poprad district, and then to compare the results with the Kežmarok district. The diploma thesis is processed by application of analytical and comparative method and statistical significance test. The analysis of the labor market and the unemployment situation in the Poprad and Kežmarok districts showed that the district of Kežmarok is, compared to the Poprad district, a much less developed district with a significantly higher unemployment rate. The most serious causes of unemployment in both rated districts are low levels of education and low employment opportunities, with the Kezmarok District being characterized by a significantly lower number of significant employers and job opportunities than the Poprad district. In the Kežmarok district, there is also a significantly higher number of job seekers with a low level of education than in the Poprad district. The conclusion of the work focuses on recommendations on the reduction of unemployment in the evaluated districts, which are primarily aimed at increasing the level of education of the population and supporting the economic development of the evaluated districts.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca sa venuje problematike príčin nezamestnanosti v okrese Poprad. Hlavným cieľom práce je analyzovať nezamestnanosť a trh práce v okrese Poprad, identifikovať faktory nezamestnanosti a ich príčiny v okrese Poprad a následne komparovať výsledky zisteného stavu s okresom Kežmarok. Diplomová práce je spracovávaná uplatnením analytickej a komparatívnej metódy a štatistického testu významnosti. Analýza trhu práce a stavu nezamestnanosti v okrese Poprad a Kežmarok preukázala, že okres Kežmarok je v porovnaní s okresom Poprad značne menej rozvinutým okresom s podstatne vyššou mieru nezamestnanosti. Najzávažnejšími príčinami nezamestnanosti v oboch hodnotených okresoch je nízka úroveň vzdelania a málo pracovných príležitostí, pričom okres Kežmarok sa vyznačuje podstatne nižším počtom významných zamestnávateľov a pracovných príležitostí ako okres Poprad. V okrese Kežmarok je tiež značne vyšší počet uchádzačov o zamestnanie s nízkou úrovňou vzdelania ako v okrese Poprad. Záver práce sa orientuje na odporúčania v súvislosti so znižovaním nezamestnanosti v hodnotených okresoch, ktoré smerujú predovšetkým k zvyšovaniu úrovne vzdelania obyvateľov a k podpore hospodárskeho rozvoja hodnotených okresov.
