Determination of allowance for E/O inventory

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá opravnými položkami k zásobě zastaralých a nadbytečných náhradních dílů ve vybraném podniku. Cílem práce je popsat a porovnat dva přístupy k výpočtu opravné položky a vyvodit, který z nich je v kontextu sledované společnosti vhodnější. Teoretická část je věnována tématu zásob, jejich klasifikaci a oceňování a dále opravným položkám k zásobám i v účetnictví obecně. V praktické části je představena společnost Continental Automotive Czech Republic, s.r.o., se zaměřením na oblast zásob a jejich oceňování. Ústřední částí je vysvětlení a komparace způsobu výpočtu opravné položky dle korporátní směrnice k zásobě náhradních dílů s rizikem jejich dalšího nevyužití se současným výpočtem dle schválené výjimky od této normy. Z analýzy vyplynulo, že oba přístupy jsou si blízké a neodporují českým legislativním ani mezinárodním účetním předpisům. Přestože je přístup dle vnitropodnikové směrnice technicky náročnější, lépe koresponduje s realitou, proto autorka doporučila přiklonění se k metodě platné standardně pro všechny výrobní závody společnosti.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with allowance for the excess and obsolete stock of spare parts in the selected company. The aim of the thesis is to describe and compare two approaches to the calculation of the allowance and to conclude which of them is more appropriate in the context of the monitored company. The theoretical part is dedicated to the topic of inventories, their classification and valuation, and also to inventory allowance and allowance in accounting in general. In the practical part the company Continental Automotive Czech Republic, s.r.o., is introduced with focus on inventory issues and inventory valuation. The main focus is on explanation and comparison of the method of determination of allowance for E/O inventory according to the company-wide guideline with the current approach according to the approved exception to this standard. The analysis showed that both approaches are close enough and do not contradict Czech legislation or international accounting standards. Although the approach that follows corporation guideline is technically more demanding, this better corresponds to the reality, therefore the author recommended follow the general corporation standard for all production plants of the company.
