The acceptance of hearing loss and the adaptation of hearing aids by seniors

Anotácia:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou přijetí ztráty sluchu a adaptace sluchadel seniory. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a empirickou. Teoretická část práce se soustředí na popis období senia a změn, ke kterým dochází v důsledku stáří. Dále se zaměřuje na komunikaci seniorů se získanou sluchovou vadou. Závěr teoretické části je věnován korekci sluchových vad, a to především s využitím sluchadel. Výzkumná část se skládá z charakteristiky výzkumného vzorku a vlastního šetření. Hlavním cílem kvalitativního šetření bylo analyzovat faktory, které ovlivňují přijetí ztráty sluchu a adaptace sluchadel seniory. Tuto analýzu dokreslují zkušenosti dětí nebo životních partnerů žijící, kteří žijí s osobami se sluchovým postižením. Hlavní metodou kvalitativního výzkumu byly zvoleny rozhovory, které jsou doplněné o pozorování.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on the acceptance of hearing loss and the adaptation of hearing aids by seniors. It is divided into two parts, the theoretical one and the research one. The theoretical part describes the period of life of seniors as well as the changes related to this specific period of life. It especially focuses on the communication with seniors suffering from acquired hearing loss. The theoretical part is concluded by correction of hearing loss primarily due to usage of hearing aids. The research part consists of characterization of research sample and the actual research. The qualitative research analyses factors which influence the acceptance hearing loss and the adaptation of hearing aids by seniors. This analysis is supported by experience of children and partners cohabitating with seniors suffering from hearing loss. The method of qualitative research is primarily based on interviews, secondly on observation.
