Corporate Social Responsibility and its Implementation in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Předmětem této bakalářské práce je společenská odpovědnost firem a její uplatňování v České republice. V úvodní kapitole teoretické části práce je uvedena definice a historie společenské odpovědnosti. Dále jsou uvedeny její tři základní oblasti, tzv. triple bottom line. Důležitou součástí práce je popis stakeholderů. Práce se zabývá argumenty pro a proti společenské odpovědnosti, důvody, proč být společensky odpovědný, respektive i dopad krize na uplatňování CSR aktivit. Je uveden vývoj konceptu CSR v České republice i v různých státech Evropy a světa. Poslední kapitola teoretické části obsahuje hodnocení a reporting společenské odpovědnosti, zejména směrnice, normy a indexy. V aplikační části jsou podrobně popsána kritéria směrnic Global Reporting Initiative, dle kterých budou zprávy o udržitelném rozvoji a společenské odpovědnosti hodnoceny. Podrobně jsou analyzovány vybrané zprávy tří českých firem a je uvedeno porovnání zpráv v České republice a zahraničí dle výzkumů KPMG. Dále jsou analyzovány i další dostupné firemní reporty o CSR v ČR a to podle vlastních hodnotících ukazatelů založených na směrnicích Global Reporting Initiative. Ukazatele jsou statisticky vyhodnoceny v podobě grafů, ve kterých jsou zprávy rozčleněné podle toho, zdali je firmy vydávají samy nebo používají zprávy svých nadnárodních společností. V poslední kapitole aplikační části jsou uvedena doporučení pro tvůrce a zpracovatele zpráv.

Abstract:

The topic of this thesis includes corporate social responsibility and its implementation in the Czech Republic. The preliminary chapter of the theoretical part describes the definition and history of social responsibility. Further, the three elementary social responsibility spheres, the so-called triple bottom line, are introduced. Description of stakeholders is an integral part of the thesis. The thesis then deals with the pros and cons of social responsibility, the reasons why companies should be socially responsible, and the impact of the financial crisis on implementing CSR activities. Next, the development of the CSR concept in the Czech Republic and various European and world countries is depicted. The final chapter of the theoretical part describes social responsibility assessment and reporting, particularly guidelines, standards and indices. The application part of the thesis describes in detail the Global Reporting Initiative Guidelines criteria, according to which sustainable development and social responsibility reports will be assessed. The Czech Republic’s and foreign reports are compared in accordance with the KPMG Surveys. The reports of three selected Czech companies are analyzed in detail. Further, I have analyzed available CSR reports of other Czech companies in accordance with my own criteria based on Global Reporting Initiative Guidelines. The indicators are assessed statistically and presented in graphs, in which the reports are divided as to whether issued by companies themselves or used as reports of their multinational companies. The final chapter of the application part states recommendations for creators and compilers of CSR reports.
