The differences between psychological aspects of personal predeterminants of success in Men's pro soccer teams using the Big Five model.

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je prostřednictvím pětifaktorového modelu NEO-FFI analyzovat osobnostní rysy profesionálních fotbalistů 1. FC Baník Ostrava a zjistit, zda a jak se liší mezi hráči A-týmu a B-týmu. V teoretické části je charakterizován fotbal, jeho psychologické aspekty a historie sportovní psychologie, přičemž je kladen důraz na psychologické nároky na hráče a jejich dovednosti spojené s výkonem. Praktická část popisuje vzorek, metody analýzy dat a interpretaci výsledků. Byla provedena analýza normálního rozdělení a skosení, díky čemuž bylo možné použít parametrické statistické testy. Z výsledků vyplývá, že žádný z rysů osobnosti významně nepředpovídá zařazení hráčů do A-týmu. Jediný významný rozdíl mezi týmy byl v dimenzi neuroticismu, na níž hráči A-týmu skórovali méně. Pro hlubší porozumění vztahu mezi osobností a sportovním úspěchem, by byl vhodný rozsáhlejší výzkum s větším počtem účastníků.

Abstract:

The goal of this bachelor's thesis is to analyze the personality traits of professional football players of 1. FC Baník Ostrava using the NEO-FFI five-factor model and to determine whether and how they differ between players of the A-team and the B-team. The theoretical part characterizes football, its psychological aspects, and the history of sports psychology, emphasizing the psychological demands on players and their performance-related skills. The practical part describes the sample, data analysis methods, and interpretation of results. An analysis of the normal distribution and skewness was conducted, which allowed the use of parametric statistical tests. The results indicate that none of the personality traits significantly predict the inclusion of players in the A-team. The only significant difference between the teams was in the dimension of neuroticism, on which A-team players scored less. For a deeper understanding of the relationship between personality and sporting success, further research with a larger number of participants would be appropriate.
