The Use of Multimedia in English Language Teaching at Lower-Secondary School

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou využití multimédií ve výuce anglického jazyka na 2. stupni ZŠ. V teoretické části práce jsou vymezeny základní definice související s danou problematikou, například výuka a její pojetí, či aktivizační výukové metody, jež jsou součástí zkoumaných vyučovacích hodin. Patří sem také problematika informačních a komunikačních technologií (ICT) se zaměřením na využívání multimédií ve výuce. Empirická část práce se věnuje kvalitativnímu výzkumnému šetření, konkrétně cyklu akčního výzkumu, jehož cílem je porovnání dvou vyučovacích hodin, kdy jedna z hodin byla vyučována zcela bez použití multimédií, a druhá proběhla za plné podpory multimédií. Následně je naším cílem zjištění, zda využití multimédií ve výuce anglického jazyka souvisí s aktivitou žáků a jejich zájmem o samotný předmět.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the use of multimedia in English language teaching at lower-secondary school. The theoretical part of the thesis defines basic definitions related to the issue, for example teaching and its concepts or the activation teaching methods that are part of the examined lessons. Another important item is the issue of information and communication technologies (ICT) focusing on the use of multimedia in education. The empirical part is devoted to qualitative research survey, namely the action research cycle, which aims to compare two lessons, where one of the lessons was taught completely without the use of multimedia and the other was conducted with the full support of multimedia. Consequently, our aim is to find out whether the use of multimedia in English language teaching can increase pupils' activity and interest in the subject itself.
