Change of lifestyle in patients after acute myocardial infarction

Abstract:

Tématem předložené disertační práce je problematika sekundární prevence u nemocných po prodělaném akutním infarktu myokardu a následné dodržování jejích zásad. Hlavním úkolem sekundární prevence je seznámit pacienty s rizikovými faktory onemocnění srdce a zásadami správné životosprávy. Klíčovou oblastí této výzkumné práce je edukační působení zdravotníků z Fakultní nemocnice u sv. Anny v Brně (I. interní kardioangiologická klinika, koronární jednotka) na nemocné při změně jejich životního stylu (snižování nadváhy, eliminace stresu, abstinence kouření, zvýšení pohybové aktivity). Hlavním cílem práce bylo zjistit, zda edukace pacientů po prodělaném infarktu myokardu má očekávaný vliv na zlepšení jejich zdravotního stavu. Dílčí cíle se zaměřily na zmapování znalostí nemocných o rizikových faktorech ischemické choroby srdeční, na přínos a význam edukace pro pacienty a na schopnost dodržování abstinence kouření.Sběr potřebných dat byl realizován pomocí kvalitativního výzkumu v období roku 2015, 2016 a 2018 kdy potřebné informace byly získány analýzou dokumentů (ze zdravotnické dokumentace), pozorováním a rozhovorem s nemocnými. Byla porovnána data získaná výzkumným šetřením během hospitalizace pacientů s daty získanými po šesti měsících a dvou letech po propuštění z nemocnice.

Abstract:

The subject of this thesis is the issue of secondary prevention in patients after acute myocardial infarction and adherence to its principles. The main task of secondary prevention is to acquaint patients with risk factors in heart disease and with the principles of appropriate diet. The key area of this research is the educational impact of the medics at the St. Anne´s University Hospital in Brno (I. Internal Cardioangiological Clinic - Coronary Care Unit) on patients whose treatment necessitates a change of lifestyle (overweight reduction, elimination of stress, cessation of smoking, increase in physical activity). The main aim of the thesis was to determine whether instructing patients after myocardial infarction produces the expected impact on improving their health. There have been four sub-objectives of this thesis: the mapping of knowledge of patients of the risk factors for coronary heart disease, the contribution and importance of education of patients, the ability of observance of smoking abstinence.Collecting the necessary data was conducted using qualitative research during the period of the years 2015, 2016 and 2018, in the process of which the necessary information was obtained through the analysis of documents (from the medical documentation), observation and interviews with patients. The data obtained from patients during the time of their hospitalization were compared with the data obtained six months and two years after hospital discharge.
