The Impacts of the Coronavirus Pandemic on the Tourism Industry in Croatia and Possibilities of Its Recovery

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá dopady pandemie koronaviru Covid-19 na cestovní ruch v Chorvatsku jakožto jednu z nejoblíbenějších turistických destinací v Evropě. Pandemie koronaviru Covid-19 podstatným způsobem zasáhla cestovní ruch téměř na celém světě, Chorvatsko nevyjímaje. Cílem práce je popsat, jaké dopady měla pandemie koronaviru Covid-19 na chorvatský cestovní ruch, zhodnotit současný stav turismu v Chorvatsku a předložit náměty opatření k jeho oživení ve směru zlepšení jeho kondice a zvýšení odolnosti vůči obdobným krizím do budoucna. Pro účely diplomové práce jsou použity tři výzkumné metody. První metodou je analýza statistických dat výsledků cestovního ruchu v době předcovidové a v letech pandemických (covidových). Druhou metodou je komparace těchto dat. Třetí metodou je sběr informací o cestovním ruchu a dopadech pandemie pomocí řízených rozhovorů s ubytovacími zařízeními na území Chorvatska.

Abstract:

The present master thesis deals with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on tourism in Croatia, as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe.The coronavirus pandemic has economically weakened tourism almost all over the world, Croatia included. The aim of the thesis is to describe and evaluate the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on Croatian tourism, to evaluate the current state of tourism in Croatia and to present ideas for measures to revive it in the direction of improving its condition and increasing resistance to similar crises in the future. Three research methods are used for the purposes of the thesis. The first method represents the analysis of statistical data on tourism results in the pre-covid and pandemic covid-years. The second method is based on their comparison. The third method is the collection of information about tourism and the effects of the pandemic through guided interviews with accommodation facilities in Croatia.
