Local referendum in Brno

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá místním referendem, které se odehrálo ohledně polohy nového nádraží pro Brno. První část se formou literární rešerše zabývá vývojem demokracie až k modernímu pojetí a skrze demokracii přímou k referendu. Poté popisem aktuální situací referenda v EU a rozbor celostátního, krajského a místního referenda v České republice. Praktická část je zaměřena na analýzu postojů obou názorových táborů kolem referenda. Data byly získány formou osobních rozhovorů s aktivisty, politiky, či odborníky a většina z nich se aktivně podíleli v podpoře, nebo odporu k referendu. Doplňkově byly další data získána formou dotazníku mezi občany. Výsledkem je souhrn postojů všech osob, s kterými byl veden rozhovor ohledně podstatných otázek a problémů spjatých s referendem.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the local referendum on the location of the new railway station in Brno. The first part deals with the development of democracy to the modern concept and through democracy direct to the referendum. Then a description of the current situation of the referendum in the EU and the analysis of national, regional and local referendums in the Czech Republic. The practical part is focused on the analysis of attitudes of the two opinion camps around the referendum. Data were obtained through personal interviews with activists, politicians, or experts, and most of them actively participated in the support or resistance to the referendum. Additional data was obtained through a questionnaire among citizens. The result is a summary of the attitudes of all the people who were interviewed about the substantive issues and issues surrounding the referendum.
