The nurse's role in communication with the tracheostomy patient

Abstract:

Moje bakalářská práce s názvem Role sester v komunikaci s tracheostomickou kanylou je strukturována do teoretické a empirické části. Práce zdůrazňuje důležitost úlohy sester při komunikaci v této oblasti. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na definice a popisy jednotlivých rolí sester, interpersonální vztahy, komunikační strategie a detailní popis tracheostomie. V empirické části jsme provedli rozhovory s pěti participanty, abychom lépe porozuměli rolím sester a jejich názorům na tuto problematiku. Rozhovory byly nahrány a následně přepsány do textové podoby. Data byla analyzována pomocí otevřeného kódování. Z výsledků rozhovorů vyplývá, že účastníci považují své role za důležité a dobře znají jejich funkce, s výjimkou role obhájkyně, která pro ně nebyla úplně jasná. Získaná data jsou relevantní a přínosná. Jako doporučení pro praxi navrhujeme vytvoření brožury pro pacienty a jejich rodiny, která by obsahovala informace o komunikačních možnostech s tracheostomickými pacienty.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis, titled "The Role of Nurses in Communication with Tracheostomy Patients," is structured into theoretical and empirical parts. The thesis underscores the importance of nurses' roles in communication within this domain. The theoretical part focuses on definitions and descriptions of various nursing roles, interpersonal relationships, communication strategies, and a detailed description of tracheostomy. In the empirical section, we conducted interviews with five participants to better understand the roles of nurses and their perspectives on this issue. The interviews were recorded and subsequently transcribed into textual form. Data were analyzed using open coding. The results of the interviews indicate that participants consider their roles important and are well aware of their functions, except for the role of advocate, which was not entirely clear to them. The obtained data are relevant and beneficial. As a recommendation for practice, we suggest creating a brochure for patients and their families containing information on communication options with tracheostomy patients.
