Gender wage gap in the Czech Republic and the Russian Federation

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá analýzou problému genderových mzdových rozdílů v České republice a Ruské federaci a zjišťuje, zda rozdíly v odměňování v České republice a Ruské federaci opravdu existují a případně jak jsou velké. Na základě provedené literární rešerše existujících studie vyplývá, že genderové mzdové rozdíly májí mnoho příčin a tento problém potřebuje komplexní řešeni jak ze strany státu, tak i ze strany jednotlivých zaměstnavatelů. Zároveň tento problém vyžaduje větší pozornost celého obyvatelstva, protože výsledky kvantitativního výzkumu poukazuji na obecnou neinformovanost nejenom ohledně mzdových rozdílů mužů a žen, ale i všech typů diskriminace na trhu práce. Součástí práce je analýza rozdílů ve mzdách mužů a žen v České republice a Ruské federaci za pomoci dat z Českého statistického úřadu a Federální služby státní statistiky Ruské federace (Rosstat). Výsledky této analýzy ukazují, že v Ruské federaci rozdíly v odměňování žen a mužů jsou větší než v České republice.

Abstract:

The aim of this Bachelor’s thesis is to analyze the problem of gender wage differences in the Czech Republic and the Russian Federation: to find out whether gender wage differences in both countries really exist and, if applicable, how big they are. After a careful literary research of the existing studies, the Bachelor’s thesis comes to the conclusion, that gender wage differences have many causes and this problem needs a comprehensive solution both on the government side and on the side of employers and companies. At the same time, this problem requires greater attention of the entire population, because the results of conducted quantitative research indicates a general lack of information among population not only about the wage gap between men and women, but also about all types of discrimination in the labor market. The Bachelor’s thesis also conducts an analysis of gender wage differences between men and women in the Czech Republic and the Russian Federation using the data from the Czech Statistical Office and the Federal Service for State Statistics of the Russian Federation (Rosstat). The results of this analysis show that in the Russian Federation the differences in gender wage differences are greater than in the Czech Republic.
