Impact of informal education on communication in the workplace

Abstract:

Tato magisterská diplomová práce je zaměřena na komunikaci na pracovišti a na její vnímání z pohledu nadřízených a podřízených. Práce je koncipovaná do dvou částí – teoretické a empirické. V teoretické části jsou vymezeny základní pojmy: komunikace, firemní vzdělávání a firemní kultura. V závěru teoretické části se věnuji také komunikaci v kontextu pracoviště a jejímu významu, kde představuji i komunikaci s nadřízeným a její možné bariéry a efektivní nástroje pro její posílení. Empirická část obsahuje kvalitativní výzkumné šetření realizovaného prostřednictvím polostrukturovaných rozhovorů, jehož cílem bylo odpovědět za hlavní výzkumné otázky: Jak je vnímána komunikace na pracovišti mezi nadřízenými a podřízenými? A zda a jakým způsobem se na tomto vnímání podílí neformálního vzdělávání na pracovišti? Zároveň bylo zkoumáno, čím je tato komunikace ovlivňována a jaký typ vzdělávání by uvítali oslovení respondenti ke svojí práci.

Abstract:

This Master’s thesis deals with communication in the workplace and its perception from the point of view of superior and subordinate employees. The thesis consists of two parts – theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part defines the following basic terms: communication, corporate education and corporate culture. By way of conclusion of the theoretical part, I deal also with communication within a workplace context and its importance, where I present also communication with superior and its potential barriers and efficient tools for its reinforce. The empirical part contains qualitative research carried out employing semi-structured interviews, the aim of which was to respond to the main research questions: How is perceptions communication between superiors and subordinates in the workplace? And how and which way does perception participate in an informal education on workplace? The thesis at the same time investigates what influences communication and which type of education the questioned respondents would prefer in their work.
