"Tell me something about death..." Chosen books of nineties for children and teen-agers that can be helpful i interview about 'dying and death'

Abstract:

Taking into account the peculiarity of children´s psychology in individual/ different developmental stages as well as the literary aesthetic and stylistic attributes of texts, the master´s thesis offers analyses of texts chosen from literature for children and literature for the youth written in the 1990s. All the selected texts place ‚death and dying‘ at the forefront as the element bearing the story. The analysis has discovered that the texts when describing death are informed both by the current knowledge of developmental psychology and contemporary forms of literature for children and the youth (psychological children´s novel, adolescents´ novel). The literary tendencies of the1970s and 1980s are carried on in the 1990s and literature for children and the youth is further developed with regard to the latest tendencies in literary aesthetic and stylistic aspects of literature for children and the youth. Many of the texts depict individual death and the way it is dealt with by a mourning child or a mourning adolescent. The various aspects and stages of grief as well as the inner life of the protagonist are in the focus of attention of the thesis.

Abstract:

S přihlédnutím k zvláštnostem dětské psychologie jednotlivých vývojových období stejně jako k literárně-estetickým a stylistickým atributům textů se magisterská práce snaží provést exemplární analýzu vybraných textů dětské literatury a literatury pro mládež 90tých let, v nichž ‚smrt a umírání’ stojí v popředí jako prvek nesoucí děj. Je zjištěno, že se texty při znázornění smrti orientují jak podle poznatků vývojové psychologie, tak i podle dobových forem literatury pro děti a mládež (psychologický dětský román, román pro adolescenty). V 90tých letech se navazuje na literárně-historické tendence 70tých a 80tých let a literatura pro děti a mládež se zde vyvíjí dál se zřetelem k nejnovějším tendencím vzhledem k literárně-estetickým a stylistickým aspektům literatury pro děti a mládež. Mnohé texty znázorňují individuální smrt a její zvládnutí pozůstalým dítětem nebo pozůstalým mladistvým. Přitom se koncentrujeme na různé aspekty a fáze zármutku stejně jako na vnitřní život protagonisty.
