Financial and strategic analysis of Raiffeisenbank a.s.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce zkoumá rysy bankovnictví, cíle a funkce komerčních bank, které zásadně odlišují jejich činnost od aktivit společnosti v jakékoli jiné nezávislé ekonomické sféře. Diplomová práce poskytuje metodiku pro analýzu finanční situace banky a také aktuální trendy ve finančních pozicích komerčních bank. Hlavní důraz je kladen na zpracování finanční a strategické analýzy Raiffeisenbank a.s. v časovém období 2015 – 2020. Daná práce se skládá ze dvou částí, a to z metodické a praktické. V rámci metodické části jsou vymezeny konkrétní metody a nástroje používané při provádění finanční a strategické analýzy. Praktická část se pak věnuje charakteristice analyzované společnosti Raiffeisenbank a.s. a zpracování finanční analýzy na základě účetních závěrek společnosti. Představen je i výběr jejích konkurentů, se kterými bude ve finanční části srovnávána. Dále je zpracována strategická analýza, která zahrnuje analýzu okolí, vnitřních zdrojů a schopností banky.

Abstract:

The thesis examines the features of banking, the goals and functions of commercial banks, which fundamentally distinguish their activities from the activities of the company in any other independent economic sphere. The diploma thesis provides a methodology for the analysis of the bank's financial situation as well as current trends in the financial positions of commercial banks. The main emphasis is placed on the processing of financial and strategic analysis of Raiffeisenbank a.s. for the period from 2015 to 2020. The paper consists of two parts, methodical and practical. Within the methodological part, specific methods and tools used in performing financial and strategic analysis are defined. The practical part then deals with the characteristics of the analyzed company Raiffeisenbank a.s. and with processing of financial analysis based on the company's financial statements. The selection of its competitors with whom it will be compared in the financial part is also presented. Furthermore, a strategic analysis is prepared, which includes an analysis of the environment, internal resources and capabilities of the bank.
