Theory of work motivation seen by generation Z: The relationship between personality constructs and selected factors of motivation theories.

Abstract:

Literární přehled se skládá z vybraných teorií pracovní motivace, spokojenosti a přiblížení generace Z, která se stává nejpočetnější generací ve vzdělávacím systému a na trhu práce. Cílem výzkumu je prozkoumat faktory motivující generaci Z a ověřit širší souvislosti se spokojeností, osobnostními konstrukty, pohlavím a místem kontroly. Analyzované faktory byly převzaty ze dvou teorií pracovní motivace, a to z Herzbergovy 2-faktorové teorie a Vroomovy teorie očekávání. Součástí cíle je také doplnit náhled na relevanci těchto vybraných teorií pracovní motivace. Prezentovaný výzkum je kvantitativního typu, konkrétně korelační studie. Účelem korelační studie je určit vztahy mezi proměnnými. Součástí tohoto výzkumu byla také identifikace rozdílů mezi proměnnými. Ke sběru dat byly použity dotazníky a inventáře. Jednalo se o dotazník JSS (základ Herzbergovy 2-faktorové teorie), BFI 2S (krátká verze osobnostního inventáře), dotazník SLCS-R (dvourozměrná škála sebeúcty), dotazník IE-4 (LoC) a rámec převzatý ze základu Vroomovy teorie očekávání. Výzkum byl proveden online. Výzkum zahrnoval pilotáž, proces editace a samotný průzkum. Výsledný datový soubor obsahuje N=205 respondentů. Výsledky ukazují, že motivační struktura generace Z je kombinací vnějších a vnitřních faktorů. Mezi vnější faktory patří finanční odměna, management a spolupracovníci. Vnitřní faktor je tvořen pracovní atmosférou. Generace Z očekává férovou mzdu, práce by měla naplňovat a přinášet dobrý pocit. Ženy preferují vnitřní faktory více než muži. Z výsledků jsme formulovali několik doporučení pro zaměstnavatele a vzdělávání. Přidali jsme také komentáře k aktuálnosti vybraných teorií pracovní motivace.

Abstract:

The literature review consists of selected theories of work motivation, satisfaction and the description of generation Z. The aim of the research is therefore to investigate the factors motivating generation Z and to verify wider connections with satisfaction, personality constructs, gender and locus of control. The analyzed factors were taken from two theories of work motivation, namely Herzberg's 2-factor theory and Vroom's expectancy theory. Part of the goal is also to add insight into the relevance of these selected theories of work motivation. The research presented is of a quantitative type, specifically a correlational study. The purpose of a correlational study is to determine relationships between variables. Part of this research was also the identification of differences between variables. The main research tools were questionnaires or inventories. Namely, they are the JSS (the basis of Herzberg's 2-factor theory), the BFI 2S (the short version of the personality inventory), the SLCS-R (the two-dimensional self-esteem scale), the IE-10 (LoC) and the framework taken from the basis of Vroom's expectancy theory. The research was conducted online. The research included piloting, the editing process and the survey itself. The resulting dataset contains N=205 respondents. The results show that the motivational structure of Generation Z is a combination of extrinsic and intrinsic factors. External factors include financial compensation, management and co-workers. Internal factors include work atmosphere. Generation Z expects a fair wage, work should be fulfilling and bring a good feeling. Women prefer internal factors more than men. From the results, we formulated several recommendations for employers and education. We also added comments on the relevance of selected work motivation theories.
