Reading and Listening in English Language Teaching at Lower Secondary School

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je zjistit, jakým způsobem probíhá čtení a poslech v hodinách anglického jazyka na 2. stupni základních škol. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a empirickou část. Teoretická část vymezuje základní pojmy a východiska pro část empirickou. Těmito pojmy jsou receptivní řečové dovednosti, čtení a poslech, jejich druhy, druhy cvičení v jednotlivých fázích výuky a praktické tipy. Dále rámcový vzdělávací program pro základní vzdělávání, oblast Jazyk a jazyková komunikace a očekávané výstupy pro čtení a poslech s porozuměním. Nakonec charakterizuje žáky 2. stupně základní školy. Empirická část popisuje cíle a metodologii výzkumu, charakteristiku výzkumného vzorku a analýzu a interpretaci výsledků.

Abstract:

The aim of this Master thesis is to investigate the process of reading and listening in English language teaching at lower secondary schools. The thesis is divided into a theoretical part and an empirical part. The theoretical part defines basic concepts and provides a framework for the empirical section. These concepts include receptive communication skills, reading and listening, their types, types of exercises in different stages of teaching, and practical tips. Furthermore, it outlines the Framework Education Programme for Elementary Education, the area of Language and Language Communication, and the expected outcomes for reading and listening comprehension. Lastly, it characterizes pupils at lower secondary school. The empirical part describes the research objectives and methodology, characteristics of the research sample, and analysis and interpretation of the results.
