Job Satisfaction and Motivation of IT company employees

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá pracovní spokojeností a motivací zaměstnanců IT firmy. Na základě teoretických poznatků vymezuje faktory, které ovlivňují pracovní spokojenost a motivaci. V teoretické části práce jsou vymezena základní témata, jejichž znalost pomáhá k lepšímu pochopení fungování lidské psychiky, vztahující se k pracovní činnosti. Popisuje osobnostní charakteristiky zaměstnance v pracovním prostředí, včetně členění struktury osobnosti pro účely interpretace v pracovním procesu. Zabývá se tedy tím, jak schopnosti, zaměření, temperament či charakter člověka ovlivňují jeho chování v pracovním procesu. Zároveň se teoretická část práce věnuje teoriím motivace, jejichž znalost je rovněž důležitým aspektem poznání, jak různí lidé reagují na vnější podněty, jak je dobré pracovat s vnitřní i vnější motivací. Pracovní spokojenost je v současné době velmi zkoumaným tématem, protože je nedílnou a důležitou složkou života nás všech. Pracovní spokojenost či nespokojenost může ovlivňovat náš osobní život a hraje podstatnou roli i ve zdraví člověka. Na základě teoretických poznatků jsou v diplomové práci vymezeny některé faktory, které ovlivňují pracovní spokojenost, jako jsou například vztahy na pracovišti, osobnost přímého nadřízeného, ohodnocení, možnost seberealizace a růstu a další. V praktické části diplomové práce jsou některé zmíněné faktory využity v dotazníkovém šetření, jejich výběr je ovlivněn rozhovorem a požadavky pracovnice HR firmy. Firma by se chtěla v současné době zaměřit na analýzu pracovní spokojenosti, zjistit, které faktory tuto spokojenost nejvíce ovlivňují a zároveň ji zajímá otázka benefitů jako nástroje motivace v pracovním procesu. Dotazníkové šetření je tedy uzpůsobeno na míru požadavků HR manažerky, kdy je v plánu stejným způsobem zmapovat všechna oddělení společnosti a v druhé fázi se pak zaměřit na oblasti, které by, dle dotazníkové šetření, měly největší vliv na motivaci zaměstnanců. Návrhová část práce pak přináší shrnutí šetření, na jehož základě jsou doporučeny oblasti zlepšení či dalšího šetření.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with job satisfaction and motivation of employees in an IT company. Based on theoretical knowledge it defines the factors that influence job satisfaction and motivation. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the basic topics, the knowledge of which helps to better understand the functioning of the human psyche related to work activities. It describes the personality characteristics of the employee in the work environment, including a breakdown of personality structure for the purpose of interpretation in the work process. Thus, it deals with how a person's abilities, orientation, temperament, or character affect his or her behavior in the work process. At the same time, the theoretical part of the thesis focuses on theories of motivation, knowledge of which is also an important aspect of understanding how different people respond to external stimuli and how to work with intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Job satisfaction is currently a much-researched topic because it is an integral and important component of all of our lives. Job satisfaction or dissatisfaction can affect our personal lives and plays a significant role in a person's health. Based on the theoretical findings, the thesis identifies some factors that influence job satisfaction such as workplace relationships, the personality of the immediate supervisor, appraisal, opportunity for self-realization and growth, and others. In the practical part of the thesis, some of the mentioned factors are used in the questionnaire survey, their selection is influenced by the interview and the requirements of the HR officer of the company. The company would currently like to focus on the analysis of job satisfaction, to find out which factors influence this satisfaction the most, and at the same time, it is interested in the issue of benefits as a motivation tool in the work process. The questionnaire survey is therefore tailored to the requirements of the HR manager, where the plan is to map all departments of the company in the same way and then in the second phase to focus on the areas that, according to the questionnaire survey, would have the greatest impact on employee motivation. The design part of the paper then presents a summary of the survey, based on which areas for improvement or further investigation is recommended.
