Differences in the eating habits of Kazakh and Czech cuisine

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje rozdílům ve stravovacích zvyklostech, které jsou typické pro kazašskou a českou kuchyni. Tato práce si proto klade za cíl popsat a vysvětlit zásadní rozdíly týkající se jídel a nápojů typických pro kazašskou a českou kuchyni. První část práce je věnována teoretickým informacím o sledovaných zemích a přináší důležité poznatky týkající se samotné České republiky a Kazachstánu, informací o historii stravování a vlivu náboženství na obě kuchyně a o gastronomických zvyklostech. V analytické část jsou především analyzovány a porovnány pokrmy, nápoje a suroviny používané v české a kazašské kuchyni. V této druhé části je položena a zodpovězena výzkumná otázka: Má náboženství vliv na českou a kazašskou stravovací kulturu? Tato otázka byla podrobně zkoumána a výsledky naznačují, že v kazašské kultuře náboženské předpisy mají vliv na stravování, zatímco v české kuchyni náboženství stravování neovlivňuje významně. Kromě toho je stanovený vedlejší cíl práce, kterým je zjištění, jak čeští a kazašští občané vnímají českou a kazašskou kuchyni. Za tímto účelem se provádí dotazníkové šetření. Z dotazníku vyplývá, že respondenti z obou zemí vzájemně neznají kuchyni druhého národa, avšak v rámci cestování by rádi navštívili restauraci podávající typickou národní kuchyni. Uvedeny jsou také ceny základních surovin České republiky a Kazachstánu pro představu a lepší orientaci v tématu. Třetí kapitola předkládá návrh, jak by se mohli čeští a kazašští obyvatelé lépe seznámit obecně s kulturou a kuchyní Kazachstánu a České republiky, čímž by se v těchto zemích posílil i jejich cestovní ruch.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on the differences in eating habits that are typical for Kazakh and Czech cuisine. Therefore, this thesis objective is to describe and explain the fundamental differences in food and beverages typical of Kazakh and Czech cuisine. The first part of the thesis is devoted to theoretical information about the surveyed countries and it provides important insights into the Czech Republic and Kazakhstan itself, information about the history of eating and the influence of religion on both cuisines and gastronomic habits. In the analytical part, mainly the dishes, drinks and ingredients used in Czech and Kazakh cuisine are analyzed and compared. In this second part, the research question is posed and answered: Does religion influence on Czech and Kazakh food culture. This question has been examined in detail and the results suggest that in Kazakh culture religious prescriptions have an influence on eating, while in Czech cuisine religion does not influence eating significantly. In addition, the secondary objective of the thesis was set, which is to find out how Czech and Kazakh citizens perceive Czech and Kazakh cuisine. For this purpose, the questionnaire survey is conducted. The questionnaire reveals that respondents from both countries are not familiar with each other's cuisine, but in the context of traveling they would like to visit a restaurant serving typical national cuisine. Prices of basic ingredients of the Czech Republic and Kazakhstan are also given for an idea and better orientation in the topic. The third chapter makes a suggestion on how Czech and Kazakh residents could become more familiar with the culture and cuisine of Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic in general, which would also boost tourism in these countries.
