Motivation of a medium-sized company to socially responsible behaviour

Abstract:

Ambicí této práce je poskytnout čtenáři vhled do reality společensky odpovědného chování u středně velkých podniků. Hlavním výzkumným cílem je odhalení povahy hodnotového základu motivace realizovat společensky odpovědné aktivity ve středně velkém podniku, a to pomocí polostrukturovaných rozhovorů se zástupci reálné (z důvodu ochrany dat anonymizované) středně velké společnosti a podrobným studiem adekvátních dokumentů. Empirický výzkum se opírá o teoretické přístupy k CSR, motivaci a organizační změně a na těchto základech přináší zjištění o podobě společensky odpovědného chování se zaměřením na hodnotový základ motivace a přítomnost strategie v kontextu implementace CSR. Výstupy práce poukazují na autenticitu hodnotové orientace, na níž je ve sledované firmě založeno CSR. Důkazem autenticity je prostupování CSR principů každodenními činnostmi firmy. Hlavní výzkumná zjištění se tak staví do opozice vůči náhledu kritiků, kteří CSR považují výlučně za PR nástroj, a mohou pomoci reflektovat legitimitu stávajících metod řízení zohledňujících koncept CSR i být inspirací či vodítkem pro další manažerské subjekty.

Abstract:

The ambition of this thesis is to provide the reader with a better understanding of the reality of CSR of a medium-sized company. The main research objective of this thesis is through a semi-structured interviews with representatives of a real, but anonymized, medium-sized company and by studying sufficient documents to expose the value nature of a motivation to exercise a socially responsible behaviour. The empirical research is built on a theoretical foundation of the concept of CSR and the theory of motivation and organizational change and it brings findings about the form of socially responsible behaviour with focus on the value basis of motivation and presence of a strategy in a context of CSR implementation. The outcomes of the research shows an authenticity of a value orientation on which is the CSR grounded in the examined company, while the evidence of sincerity is found in the everyday use of expressions of CSR activities. The main findings are in contrast to the perspective of critics, who consider CSR exclusively as a PR tool. The findings may also help to reflect the legitimacy of the existing management methods involving the CSR concept and to serve as an inspiration and guide for other management entities similar to the author´s case.
