Postpenitentiary Care in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Postpenitenciární péče v České republice se zabývá donedávna vcelku opomíjenou problematikou péče o osoby propuštěné z výkonu trestu odnětí svobody. Zabývá se též v nejnutnější míře historií vězeňství u nás, dále rozebírá úkoly, členění a organizaci Vězeňské služby ČR a jednotlivé typy věznic. Poněvadž postpenitenciární péče navazuje na působení na odsouzeného ve věznici (tj. na penitenciární péči), je zde charakterizována i penitenciární péče. Následně je analyzována role jednotlivých nejdůležitějších subjektů postpenitenciární péče, a to jak subjektů státních, tak i subjektů nestátních, které stále více nabývají v systému postpenitenciární péče na důležitosti. Součástí práce je taktéž výzkum, který se zaměřil na kvalitu postpenitenciární péče u nás v současnosti, na nejvíce preferované služby subjektů postpenitenciární péče a konečně na to, služby kterého subjektu jsou nejvíce využívány.

Abstract:

Postpenitentiary Care in the Czech Republic deals with the care of persons released from penitentiaries, which has recently been neglected to a certain extent. It gives the necessary picture of the history of prison system in this country, analysing the mission, structure and organisation of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic, including the existing types of prison. As the postpenitentiary care follows the working with convicted persons in prison (i.e. the penitentiary care) there is a characteristic of the penitentiary care included, too. Subsequently, the thesis gives an analysis of the role of all the relevant persons involved in the postpenitentiary care, both governmental authorities and also non-governmental organisations which are getting more and more important in the postpenitentiary care system. The thesis further includes a research focused on the quality of postpenitentiary care in the Czech Republic at present, on the most preferred services provided by the postpenitentiary care organisations, and finally which of the organisations renders the most widely used services.
