The Europeanization of the Labour Party

Anotácia:

Diplomová práce se věnuje tématu evropeizace politických stran. Konkrétně je jejím cílem analýza evropeizace britské Labouristické strany. Práce je strukturována na základě tzv. Ladrechova katalogu, který definuje 5 oblastí ve spojitosti s politickými stranami, v nichž dochází ke změnám v důsledku evropeizace. Jsou to oblasti: programatiky; organizační struktury; vzorců stranické soutěže; vztahů mezi stranou a vládou; a vztahů nad rovinou národního stranického systému. Práce na základě zmíněných bodů konceptu obsahuje 5 hlavních analýz evropeizace. Stěžejní částí je analýza programatiky, jelikož u ní lze nejsnáze identifikovat změny, které nastaly v důsledku působení evropeizace. V jejím rámci je u Labouristické strany provedena analýza kvantitativní a kvalitativní dimenze evropeizace programatiky, analýza vztahu k evropské integraci a dále ve všech těchto oblastech i komparace s Konzervativní stranou.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the theme of the Europeanisation of the political parties. Specifically, its objective is to analyze the Europeanization of the British Labour party. The thesis is structured by Ladrech’s concept of the Europeanisation of the polical parties. Ladrech defines the areas in relation to the political parties, in which the changes occur as a result of Europeanization. Five areas are singled out: programmatic content; organization; patterns of party competition; party-government relations; and relations beyond the national party system. The thesis contains the analyses of all these 5 areas. The analysis of programmatic content is the most relevant of all because it allows distinctly identify the impact of Europeanization on the political parties and the changes in attitudes to European integration. In chapter about the Europeanization of programmatic content, there is a quantitative and qualitative analysis of Europeanization, analysis of party’s attitudes to European integration and comparison with the Conservative Party in all these analyses.
