Social construction of relationship between social workers of child protection services and children clients

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na sociální konstrukci vztahů sociálních pracovníků oddělení sociálně-právní ochrany dětí k dětským klientům. Koncept sociální konstrukce je využíván ke zkoumání různých způsobů kategorizace, stereotypizace a idealizace významu, budování a udržování vztahu sociálních pracovníků a dětských klientů. Způsoby sociální konstrukce mohou pozitivně i negativně ovlivnit přístup sociálních pracovníků k vlastní profesi i intervencím do života dětských klientů. Cílem práce je zjistit, jakým způsobem konstruují sociální pracovníci vztah k dětských klientům, možné příčiny těchto konstrukcí a jejich vliv na intervence do života dětských klientů. Teoretická část vymezuje základní pojmy hlavní výzkumné otázky - sociální konstrukci, vymezení sociálně-právní ochrany dětí, význam a charakter vztahu mezi pomáhajícím pracovníkem a dětským klientem. Metodologická část popisuje užitou kvalitativní výzkumnou strategii, v rámci níž byla použita metoda dotazování a technika polostrukturovaného rozhovoru. Jádrem práce je empirická část, která se zaměřuje na interpretace rozhovorů se sociálními pracovníky a pomocí dílčích výzkumných otázek odpovídá na hlavní výzkumnou otázku práce: ,,Jakým způsobem konstruují sociální pracovníci oddělení sociálně-právní ochrany dětí svůj vztah k dětským klientům?“ Data jsou interpretována metodou otevřeného a axiálního kódování. V závěru práce jsou předloženy návrhy pro praxi a další výzkumy.

Abstract:

This thesis examines the social construction of relationship between social workers of child protection services and children clients. The concept of social construction is used to explore different ways how social workers categorize, stereotype and idealize the importance of building and maintaining the relationship between social workers and children clients in child protection services. The social construction can positively and negatively affects access of social workers to their profession and interventions into the lives of children clients. The aim of this work is to find how social construction determine access to clients. The first part of this thesis defines theoretically basic concepts of the main research question - social construction, child protection service, helping profession, relationship between social worker and children client. The methodological section describes qualitative research method and semi-structured interviews. The main intention of the empirical part is an analysis of individual interviews with social workers and find answer to the main research question. The data are interpreted through the open coding method. At the end of the work are proposed recommendations for practice.
