Spatial Analysis of ANO2011 electoral support in the 2013,2017 and 2021 Czech Parliamentary Elections

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem bakalářské práce je pomocí prostorových analýz socioekonomických dat charakterizovat profil voliče hnutí ANO 2011 a jeho vývoj během sněmovních voleb v letech 2013, 2017 a 2021. Je důležité znát profil voličů populistických stran, které není snadné zařadit na tradiční ose pravice-levice. Hnutí ANO je dlouhodobě silnou, ať už vládní stranou či opoziční. V první řadě se zkoumá rozložení prostorové volební podpory za použití kartogramů a hot spot analýzy. Vztah mezi socioekonomickými charakteristikami a volebními výsledky hnutí ANO jsou zkoumány pomocí regresních analýz a cílem je najít nejvhodnější model, který by tento vztah vysvětloval. Použita byla agregovaná socioekonomická data, která vyjadřují strukturu populace v obcích s rozšířenou působností. V práci jsou vztahy zkoumané na globální i lokální úrovni. Práce také zkoumá existenci prostorových vztahů mezi ekonomickými aktivitami lídra hnutí ANO a volební podpory této strany. Výsledky z rozložení volební podpory napovídají tomu, že hnutí bylo nejprve stranou catch-all a v následujících volbách oslovilo voliče v regionech, kde voliči v minulosti upřednostňovali levicové strany. Regresní analýzy určily za vysvětlující pouze jednu proměnnou, a to ve volbách v roce 2021. Volební podpora hnutí ANO v těchto volbách se zvyšovala se snižujícím se indexem vzdělání. V ostatních letech byl prokázán vliv proměnných jen na lokální úrovni. Diskuze však konstatuje, že socioekonomický profil voličů ANO nelze dostatečně přesně kvalifikovat pomoci prostorových analýz agregovaných dat.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on the profile characterization of ANO 2011 movement elector with a help of spatial socioeconomic analysis data and his evolution during parliamentary election between years 2013, 2017 a 2021. It is important to know an elector's profile of populistic parties, that are not easy to describe as a conventional right-left wing party. In the long term ANO movement has been strong either government or opposition party. In the first place this thesis analyses spatial distribution of electoral support using cartograms and hot spot analysis. The relation between socioeconomic characteristics and election results of ANO movement are researched with a help of regressive analyses with the aim of finding the most suitable model, that would explain this relationship. Aggregated socioeconomic data were used to express population structure in municipalities with extended competence. Relationships are researched on global and local level. This thesis also researches existence of spatial relationships between ANO movement leader's economic activities and electoral support of this party. Results from distribution of electoral support suggest that ANO movement was at first catch-all party and in the following elections reached out to electors in regions, where electors used to prefer left-wing parties. Regressive analyses have determined only one variable in 2021 parliamentary elections. ANO movement electoral support in 2021 elections increased with declining intelligence index. In other years the influence of variables has been approved only on a local level. Though discussion demonstrates that socioeconomic profile of ANO movement electorate cannot be exactly described with a help of spatial analysis of aggregated data.
