Abstract:

Thesis "Film Studies in Translation: A Sample Essay with Commentary" deals with the issues that concern specialised translation, namely technical translation of an essay from a field of cinematography. The work includes both theoretical aspects and practical matters, based on the translation of a part of essay called "Film Noir and Women". Both the original essay and its translation (only parts) are attached as appendices. It is not a real analysis, as the author, apart from writing the theoretical part, also translated the part of the essay. Therefore it is more of a description of the translational process, based mainly on Peter Newmark and Mona Baker's concpets.
