The Programme of treatment for dealing with imprisoned persons in Valdice Prison, and an analysis of its effectiveness

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje výkonu trestu odnětí svobody a souvislostem, které z něho vyplývají. Nejprve se zaměřuje na obecné pojednání o Vězeňské službě České republiky, zabývá se její strukturou, členěním a s ní spojenými právními normami. Následně je pozornost věnována samotnému výkon trestu odnětí svobody, typům věznic, vnitřní diferenciaci a dalším základním úkonům spojeným s nástupem do výkonu trestu. Neodmyslitelnou součástí této práce je část o programu zacházení, který je stěžejním pilířem pro tuto práci, a koresponduje s jejím názvem. Odtud se v návaznosti dostáváme k praktické části, ve které je práce věnována výzkumu, založeném na dotazníkovém šetření. Jako účel výzkumu je kladena otázka rozdílnosti mezi standardním programem zacházení a terapeutickým programem zacházení. Předpokladem pro tuto práci, je porovnat vliv programu zacházení na odsouzené, zejména v oblastech změny v jejich postojích, snížení pravděpodobnosti páchání trestné činnosti, míry rozdílnosti v pohledu na spáchaný trestný čin, trest, sebehodnocení a program zacházení, a tím zjistit zda existuje významný rozdíl mezi účinností programu zacházení u odsouzených zařazených v terapeutickém programu zacházení a odsouzených zařazených ve standardním výkonu trestu odnětí svobody.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with serving sentences and the consequences which stem from it. Firstly, it focuses on the Czech Prison Service in general. It considers its structure and organisation, and the legislative norms which are linked to it. It goes on to examine the realities of serving a sentence, different types of prison, internal differentiation, and other factors linked to a prisoner beginning to serve their sentence. An indispensable part of this thesis a part which lends its name to the whole and forms the central pillar of the argument is the section dealing with the program of treatment. From here we progress to the experimental portion of the thesis which consists of analysing the results of a survey exploring the effects of varied programs of treatment the standard program and a therapeutic one. The hypothesis of this work is to compare the effects of two different programs of treatment in the areas of changes in prisoner?s approaches, decreasing probability of repeat offences, level of difference in prisoner?s attitude towards their post offences, punishment, self-assessment, and program of treatment and in this way discover whether there are differences between those put in the therapeutic program and those on the standard program.
