The character of the child - foreigner in Czech literature for children and youth

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá obrazem dítěte–cizince v současné české literatuře pro děti a mládež. Objasňuje pojmy cizí a cizinec a vymezuje základní aspekty spjaté se životem dítěte–cizince, jakými mohou být vzhled, komunikace, odlišná kultura, ale i vnímání vlastní identity. Na základě těchto aspektů provádíme literárněvědnou interpretační analýzu osmi vybraných próz českých autorů (mj. M. Pilátové, A. Ježkové, I. Březinové). Pohlížíme přitom nejen na cizince v ČR, ale rovněž na Čecha v cizině. V jednotlivých interpretacích se soustředíme na celkové zobrazení postavy cizince a motivy cizího. Cílem je poukázat na stěžejní a sjednocující prvky v dílech s postavou cizince.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the image of the child-foreigner in contemporary Czech literature for children and youth. It clarifies the terms foreign and foreigner and defines the basic aspects related to the life of a child-foreigner, such as appearance, communication, different culture, but also the perception of own identity. Based on these aspects, we perform a literary interpretive analysis of eight selected prose works by Czech authors (including M. Pilátová, A. Ježková, I. Březinová). We look not only at foreigners in the Czech Republic, but also at Czechs abroad. In the individual interpretations, we focus on the overall portrayal of the foreigner's character and the foreigner's motives. The aim is to point out the key and unifying elements in works with the character of a foreigner.
