Creation of a geographic virtual tour and verification of its effectiveness in teaching

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá vytvořením virtuální procházky po okrese Rokycany a ověřením efektivity ve výuce. Virtuální procházka byla vytvořena pomocí šesti sférických fotografií. Sférické fotografie zobrazují šest vybraných míst v okrese Rokycany. K těmto fotografiím byl také vytvořen pracovní list. Ověření efektivity virtuální procházky proběhlo při výuce zeměpisu v 7. třídě základní školy v Rokycanech. Žáci ve skupinách vyplňovali úkoly v pracovním listu, které cílily na vyšší cíle Bloomovy taxonomie kognitivních cílů. Hlavním cílem bylo získat odpověď na výzkumnou otázku: Jsou sférické fotografie pro výuku efektivnější než klasické fotografie? Výsledky byly zjištěny pomocí polostrukturovaného rozhovoru s vyučujícím, který navrženou virtuální procházku ověřoval ve své výuce. Z polostrukturovaného rozhovoru vyplynulo, že využití sférických fotografií ve výuce zvyšuje motivaci žáků a také, že jsou sférické fotografie pro výuku efektivnější než klasické fotografie. Sférické fotografii jsou více interaktivní a žákům umožnily přímý pocit z míst, které si prohlíželi, i když byli fyzicky mimo jejich dosah.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with the creation of a virtual walk around the Rokycany district and verification of effectiveness in teaching. The virtual walk was created using six spherical photographs. Spherical photographs show six selected places in the Rokycany district. A worksheet was also created for these photos. The verification of the effectiveness of the virtual walk took place during the teaching of geography in the 7th grade of the elementary school in Rokycany. Pupils in groups completed tasks in the worksheet that aimed at the higher goals of Bloom's taxonomy of cognitive goals. The main goal was to get an answer to the research question: Are spherical photographs more effective for teaching than classic photographs? The results were determined using a semi-structured interview with the teacher, who verified the proposed virtual walk in his teaching. The semi-structured interview revealed that the use of spherical photographs in teaching increases the motivation of pupils and also that spherical photographs are more effective for teaching than classic photographs. Spherical photographs are more interactive and allowed pupils to get a direct feel for the places they were viewing, even if they were physically out of reach.
