Scottish nationalism from 1999 to the present

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o skotském nacionalismu propojeném s politickými stranami. Cílem práce bylo zaměření se na vliv vzniku Skotského parlamentu na nacionalismus v zemi, čehož se docílilo analýzou šesti volebních období. Teoretická část se zabývá popisem samotného nacionalismu, historickým kontextem skotské politiky a popisem tří vybraných politických stran. Práce využívá obsahové analýzy z kvalitativního hlediska. Pro empirickou část byla zvolena analýza manifestů politických stran za uplynulých 22 let. K analýze byly vybrány strany: Skotská národní strana, Skotská konzervativní strana a Skotská labouristická strana.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is about Scottish nationalism linked to political parties. The aim of the thesis was to focus on the impact of the formation of the Scottish Parliament on nationalism in the country, which was achieved by analyzing six election periods. The theoretical section deals with a description of nationalism itself, the historical context of Scottish politics and a description of three selected political parties. The thesis uses content analysis from a qualitative perspective. For the empirical part, an analysis of political party manifestos over the past 22 years was chosen. The parties selected for analysis were the Scottish National Party, the Scottish Conservative Party and the Scottish Labour Party.
