Design and implementation of cost controlling reporting at a commercial bank

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá návrhem a implementací nákladového controllingového reportingu v obchodní bance, kterou je společnost Raiffeisenbank. Práce má definované dílčí cíle, které je potřeba naplnit před samotným návrhem a implementací reportingu. Nejprve je v práci charakterizováno podnikání v oblasti bankovní a také systém řízení obchodních bank, následuje charakteristika controllingu, nákladového controllingu a controllingových specifik pro oblast bankovnictví. Další tematická část práce se věnuje strategii, jejímu významu pro podnik a podobně jako v předchozích částech také specifikám pro obchodní banky. Následně je vysvětlena provázanost strategie a controllingu a přispění aktivit controllingu k plnění podnikových cílů. Předposlední částí práce je základní popsání business intelligence a jejích komponent a také vymezení metody využité při tvorbě výsledných reportů. Závěrečná část se poté zabývá analýzou business požadavků uživatelů reportů, formulací strategických záměrů a následně samotným návrhem a implementací reportů. Práce může pro čtenáře představovat přínos nejen v oblasti business intelligence a tvorby reportů, ale také při pochopení fungování a řízení obchodní banky, controllingu. Hlavní přínos bude mít práce především pro uživatele reportů, které by měly přispět k efektivnímu řízení nákladů a tím k plnění podnikových cílů.

Abstract:

The purpose of this diploma is to discuss the design and implementation of cost control reporting at a commercial bank, Raiffeisenbank. The work has defined partial goals, which need to be met before the actual design and implementation of reporting. In the first place, the work characterizes business in the field of banking and also the management system of commercial banks, followed by the characteristics of controlling, cost controlling, and controlling specifics for the field of banking. The following thematic part of the thesis discusses strategy, its significance for the company, as in the previous sections, the specific features for commercial banks. Subsequently, the interconnection of strategy and controlling and the contribution of controlling activities to the fulfillment of corporate goals are explained. The penultimate part of the work is a elemental description of business intelligence and its components, along with the definition of the method used to create the resulting reports. The final section then looks at the analysis of the business requirements of users of reports, the formulation of strategic plans, and then the design and implementation of reports. The work can be an advance for not just readers in the field of business intelligence and reporting, but also in understanding the functioning and management of a commercial bank, controlling. The primary benefit of the work would especially be for users of reports, who should contribute to effective cost management and thus the fulfillment of business goals.
