The Burden of the Parents of Premature Newborns

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem diplomové práce bylo zjistit míru zátěže u rodičů nedonošených novorozenců na oddělení neonatologie ve vybrané nemocnici a následně porovnat rozdíly mezi fyzickými a psychickými problémy zátěže vnímané muži a ženami. Metodika: Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 148 rodičů, z toho 77 matek a 71 otců. Výzkumné šetření probíhalo formou kvantitativního výzkumu prostřednictvím dotazníkového šetření. Kvantitativní výzkum probíhal od března do dubna 2018. Ke sběru dat byly použity 2 dotazníky, CSI a BEB, které byly doplněny o demografické údaje. K posouzení myšlení a chování v reakci na konkrétní stresor byl použit dotazník CSI a k posouzení kvantity psychosomatických obtíží jedince nacházejícího se v zátěžové situaci byl použit dotazník BEB. K vyhodnocení testů byl použit Spearmanův korelační koeficient, Krustal - Wallisův test a další. Výsledky: Z výsledků výzkumu vyplývá, že rodiče nedonošených novorozenců se potýkají s určitou mírou zátěže, jak psychickou tak i fyzickou, která se liší v porovnání mezi matkami a otci. Zjistili jsme, že nejčastějšími obtížemi jsou poruchy spánku, pocity napětí, vyčerpanosti a poruchy koncentrace. Dále byla zjištěna souvislost mezi mírou prožívané zátěže a využíváním copingových metod. Nižší míru zátěže vykazovali rodiče využívající některou z copingových metod. Závěr: Z výsledků vyplývá nutnost věnovat více pozornosti rodičům v zátěžových situacích jako je právě narození nedonošeného novorozence a pomoci jim tuto nelehkou situaci překonat. Zdravotnický personál by si měl být vědom veškerých stresujících faktorů v prostředí jednotky intenzivní péče pro novorozence a měl by se je snažit co nejvíce eliminovat. Identifikace různých stresorů během hospitalizace dítěte může vést k zacílení vzdělávání sester v této oblasti a celkově tak vést ke zkvalitnění péče jak o dítě, tak o rodiče.

Abstract:

Aims: The aim of the diploma thesis was to determine the degree of burden in parents of premature newborns in the department of neonatology in a selected hospital and then to compare the differences between physical and mental problems of stress perceived by men and women. Methods: The research group consisted of 148 parents, of which 77 mothers and 71 fathers. The research survey took the form of quantitative research through a questionnaire survey. Quantitative research took place from March to April 2018. 2 questionnaires, CSI and BEB, were used to collect data, which were supplemented by demographic data. The CSI questionnaire was used to assess thinking and behavior in response to a specific stressor, and the BEB questionnaire was used to assess the quantity of psychosomatic problems in an individual in a stressful situation. Spearman's correlation coefficient, Krustal-Wallis test and others were used to evaluate the tests. Results: The results of the research show that parents of premature newborns face a certain degree of burden, both mental and physical, which differs in comparison between mothers and fathers. We have found that the most common problems are sleep disorders, feelings of tension, exhaustion and impaired concentration. Furthermore, a connection was found between the degree of stress experienced and the use of coping methods. Parents using one of the coping methods showed a lower load. Conclusion: The results show the need to pay more attention to parents in stressful situations such as the birth of a premature newborn and help them overcome this difficult situation. Healthcare professionals should be aware of all stressors in the neonatal intensive care unit environment and should endeavor to eliminate them as much as possible. The identification of various stressors during the hospitalization of a child can lead to the targeting of the education of nurses in this area and thus lead to an overall improvement in the quality of care for both the child and the parents.
