Compounds in Jungmann´s Czech - German Dictionary

Abstract:

Jungmannův Slovník česko-německý je velmi bohatým zdrojem pro jazykovědná zkoumání. Tato diplomová práce se zabývá složenými slovy v I. a II. díle Jungmannova Slovníku česko-německého. V první části se věnuje kompozitům hybridním, kde je jeden komponent domácího původu a jeden původu cizího. Zaměřuje se především na výchozí jazyk cizí složky hybridních kompozit a na jejich sémantické a etymologické hledisko. Druhá část diplomové práce se zabývá opět kompozity, ale tentokrát takovými, která lze zařadit do množiny termínů. Doba českého národního obrození, ve které Jungmann žil, byla epochou utváření nové české terminologie. Zde se zaměřujeme na oblast vědy, které se termíny týkají, a na zdroje, kterých Jungmann využil pro čerpání lexika do svého slovníku.

Abstract:

Jungmann's Czech – German Dictionary is a rich source for the linguistic research. This diploma thesis deals with compounds from the 1st and the 2nd volumes of Jungmann's Czech – German Dictionary. The first part of the diploma thesis occupies with hybrid compounds, those compounds, where one can find a Czech element and an element from a foreign language. This part is focused on the source language for the foreign element and on its etymologic and semantic side. The second part of the diploma thesis is concerned with compounds too, but in this case, with the compounds which are terms. The Czech national revival period, the period in which Jungmann lived, is the era when new Czech nomenclature was being formed. In these chapters, one deals with science which is connected with the terms and with the sources of vocabulary Jungmann used for his dictionary.
