Needs analysis of victims of domestic violence in social service context

Abstract:

Tato práce si klade za cíl identifikovat nenaplněné potřeby obětí domácího násilí v rámci poskytování sociální služby, konkrétně intervenčního centra. V první části textu se soustředím na shrnutí dosavadního vědění o domácím násilí a intervenčních centrech. V druhé části se soustředím na zakotvení tématu analýzy potřeb a souvisejících pojmů, jako potřeba, bariéra a stimul. V další části popisuji metodologii svého výzkumu, rozhodl jsem se použít kvalitativní typ výzkumu. Tato část obsahuje postup výzkumu, jeho cíle a etické principy. Na metodologickou část navazuji analýzou získaných dat. Z těchto dat za pomoci kódování identifikuji jednotlivé bariéry a stimulanty. Používám jak klasické, tak in vivo kódování. V poslední části své práce jsem vypracoval doporučení pro budoucí praxi, která povedou k naplnění potřeb, které vyplynuly z identifikovaných bariér a stimulů. Tato práce představuje souhrn jednotlivých oblastí, na které by se služba měla zaměřit proto, aby byla lépe schopna naplnit potřeby svých klientů.

Abstract:

This thesis is aiming the goal to identify unmet needs of victims of domestic violence, within the context of social service provision, specifically an intervention center. In first part of my thesis I focus on summarizing current knowledge on domestic violence and intervention centers. The second part focuses on grounding the topic of needs analysis and related concepts, such as needs, barriers and stimulants. In the next section, I am describing the methodology of my research, where I am opting for a qualitative research approach. In this section, I am outlining the research process, its primary goal, and the ethical principles involved. In the next part I focus on analyzing the data I collected during interviews. From these data I will identify individual barriers and stimulants using coding. I will use both classical and in vivo coding methods. In the final part of my thesis, I will develop recommendations for future practice that will address the unmet needs identified from the barriers and stimulants. This work provides an overview of the specific areas that the service should focus on to better fulfill the unmet needs of its clients.
