Umělá inteligence v odvětví rizikového kapitálu: Poznatky z regionu střední a východní Evropy

Abstract:

Tato magisterská práce zkoumá, jak firmy rizikového kapitálu ve střední a východní Evropě zavádějí umělou inteligenci do svých činností, a poskytuje náhled na vnímané přínosy, výzvy a výhled do budoucna. Práce využívá kvalitativní výzkumný přístup a je založena na 20 polostrukturovaných rozhovorech s venture kapitalisty z firem se sídlem v regionu střední a východní Evropy. Přepisy rozhovorů jsou následně analyzovány pomocí tematické analýzy. Ze zjištění vyplývá, že většina dotazovaných venture kapitalistů aktivně využívá nástroje umělé inteligence, a to především ve fázi hodnocení a počátečního screeningu, přičemž nejvyužívanějším nástrojem je ChatGPT a interně vyvinuté nástroje se zaměřují na vyhledávání zakladatelů. Mezi hlavní vnímané přínosy patří odhalování nových příležitostí, budování dřívějších vztahů se zakladateli a zvyšování operační efektivity. Mezi výzvy naopak patří omezení v kvalitě výstupů umělé inteligence, regionální specifika, problémy s integrací a potřeba zapojení člověka v rámci procesu. Výhled do budoucna naznačuje, že ačkoli se vyhledávání nových investičních příležitostí stane plně automatizovaným a umělá inteligence výrazně zlepší screening, analýzu a vyhodnocování investičních příležitostí, lidský faktor zůstane při budování vztahů a přijímání investičních rozhodnutí klíčový. Zjištění výzkumu navíc zdůrazňují význam rozšíření rolí venture kapitálových rolí o nástroje umělé inteligence, zejména v regionu střední a východní Evropy, kde je venture kapitálový ekosystém silně orientován na vztahy. V závěru práce jsou uvedeny teoretické a praktické přínosy, omezení a důsledky pro budoucí výzkum.

Abstract:

This master’s thesis explores how venture capital (VC) firms in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) are adopting artificial intelligence (AI) into their operations and provides insights into the perceived benefits, challenges, and future outlook. The thesis uses a qualitative research approach, and it is based on 20 semi-structured interviews with venture capitalists (VCs) from firms based in the CEE region. The interview transcripts are subsequently analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that the majority of interviewed VCs are actively using AI tools, primarily in the evaluation and initial screening phases, with ChatGPT being the most utilized tool and internally developed tools focusing on founder sourcing. The main perceived benefits include uncovering new opportunities, building earlier relationships with founders, and improving operational efficiency. In contrast, challenges include limitations in the quality of AI outputs, regional specificities, integration issues, and the need for human involvement. The future outlook suggests that while sourcing will become fully automated and AI will significantly improve screening, research, and evaluation of investment opportunities, the human element will remain crucial in building relationships and making investment decisions. Additionally, the research findings emphasize the importance of augmenting VC roles with AI tools, particularly in the CEE region, where the VC ecosystem is heavily relationship-oriented. The thesis concludes with theoretical and practical contributions, limitations, and implications for future research.
