Woodcock-Johnson's Test of Cognitive Abilities. Report on standardisation regarding needs in counselling diagnostic practise /correlation between subtests and school achievement, and relation between subtests and tests of special abilities

Abstract:

Abstrakt: Cílem této práce je informovat o vlastnostech a diagnostických možnostech Woodcock-Johnsonova testu kognitivních schopností. Jsou prezentovány výsledky výzkumné studie, jejíž cílem je ověřit predikční sílu školní úspěšnosti Woodcock-Johnsonovým testem kognitivních schopností. A dále ověřit možnosti využitelnosti při diagnostice specifických poruch učení srovnáním se specifickými zkouškami schopností. Cílovou populací je dětská klientela pedagogicko-psychologických poraden školního věku. Ze specifických zkoušek schopností byla použita Zkouška sluchové diferenciace (WM), Zkouška sluchové analýzy a syntézy (SAS), Zkouška zrakové diferenciace J. Nováka a Test Rey-Ostherriethovy komplexní figury. K analýze dat byly použity deskriptivní statistiky a korelační analýzy. Závěry odpovídají předpokladu, že Woodcock – Johnsonův test je dobrým prediktorem školní úspěšnosti. Nejtěsnější vztah byl zjištěn se známkami z matematiky. Dále u chlapců byla zjištěna nejtěsnější korelace subtestu Vizuální porovnávání s Testem Rey-Ostherriethovy komplexní figury a u dívek subtestu Prostorové vztahy se Zkouškou sluchové analýzy.

Abstract:

Abstract: The objective is to inform on characteristics and diagnostic potentials of Woodcock-Johnson´s test of cognitive abilities. The results of exploratory study, whose main objectives are to prove predicative power by means of Woodcock-Johnson´s test of cognitive abilities, are presented. Also, verification of its utility when diagnosing specific learning disorders in comparison with specific ability tests. Infant and juvenile pedagogical and psychological clincs´ out-patients create the the target population. Out of the specific tests Auditory differentiation test (WM), Test of auditory analysis and synthesis (SAS), Optical differentiation test by J. Novák and Rey-Ostherreith´s complex personality test were used. In order to perform the analysis, descriptive statistic figures and correlation analyses were used. The outputs correspond with a presumption that Woodcock-Johnson´s test is an efficacious predictor of school achievement, with the closest relation found in mathematics marks. Further, in a group of boys another close correlation was found between Visual comparison subtest and and Rey-Ostherreith´s complex personality test, while subtests of Space relations and Auditory analysis test showed the same closest interrelationship among a group of girls.
