The identification of the needs and subsequent work with motivation in the shelters for mothers with children

Abstract:

Magisterská práce zkoumá, v čem se podobají a v čem se liší potřeby a způsoby naplnění potřeb klientek azylových domů pro matky s dětmi a následně i způsoby práce s motivací klientek identifikované klientkami a pracovnicemi těchto služeb. Jak sociální pracovnice pomáhají klientkám zjistit/uvědomit si/pojmenovat jaké jsou jejich potřeby a co za možnosti se jim nabízí – z jakých cílů mohou volit. A následně, jak je pracovnice podporují v jejich motivaci ke změně. Teoretická část práce představuje sedm základních témat práce - zabývá se potřebami a způsoby naplnění potřeb, definuje azylové domy pro matky s dětmi a specifika bezdomovectví žen. Dále vymezuje pracovnice azylových domů pro matky s dětmi, poukazuje na způsoby identifikace potřeb a podpory motivace klientek v azylových domech pro matky s dětmi a následně se věnuje identifikaci, odlišnosti a podobnosti obecně. Metodologická část popisuje použitou strategii kvalitativního výzkumu – opakovaný polostrukturovaný rozhovor se třemi pracovnicemi a třemi klientkami v jednom azylovém domě pro matky s dětmi. Získaná data jsou interpretována na základě otevřeného a axilárního kódování. Z výsledků vyplývá, že pracovnice se s klientkami v identifikaci potřeb v několika bodech shodují, ale i liší, což pak ovlivňuje následnou práci pracovnic s motivací klientek. Pracovnice preferují vnější stimulaci klientek, tu užívají i nadměrně, a způsoby práce s vnitřní motivací klientek spíše neznají. Proto by v rámci dalšího vzdělávání i supervize měla být tato skutečnost pracovnicemi reflektována a slaďována. V závěru práce autorka podrobněji odpovídá na hlavní výzkumnou otázku a uvádí doporučení pro další výzkum a praxi.

Abstract:

The master thesis deals with similarities and differences in the needs of clients from the shelters for mothers with children and ways how to meet them. It also focuses on working with a motivation of the clients using the ways identified by clients and workers. Moreover it deals with methods how social workers helping clients to detect to realize and to name their needs and what options they offer - from what objectives can they choose, as well as how workers support clients´ motivation to change. The theoretical part presents seven key areas of work - addresses the needs and ways of meeting them, defines the shelters for mothers with children and the specifics of homelessness for women. Further it defines workers of the shelters for mothers with children, points out the ways of identifying the needs and support of the motivation of clients in the shelters for mothers with children. Lastly it focuses on the identification, the differences and the similarities in general. The methodological part describes the strategy used in the qualitative research - repeated semi-structured interview with three workers and three clients of one shelter for mothers with children. The obtained data are interpreted on the basis of open and the axillary coding. The results show that on one hand workers coincide at several points with the clients in identifying needs, but on the other hand their views differ which in turn affects the subsequent work of workers with the motivation of the clients. The external stimulation of the clients is preferred and sometimes even overused by the social workers, while the ways of working with clients intrinsic motivation are rather not known. Therefore, this should be reflected in their further education or included as part of their professional development and their supervision. In conclusion, the author answers the main research question in details and provides recommendation for the further research and practice.
