The role of gender in the daily functioning of the juvies and the attitudes to their clients

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá promítnutím a utvářením genderu a genderových rolí do výchovy dětí ve výchovných ústavech. Analyzuje tyto ústavy jako formu totální instituce, jejímž cílem je resocializace jedinců v souladu s dominantními společenskými hodnotami a normami. Práce vychází z kvalitativního výzkumu zaměřeného na případný vliv této instituce a jejích zaměstnanců na utváření genderu a genderových rolí chovanců. Použité metody sběru dat jsou polostrukturované rozhovory se čtyřmi vychovateli, zúčastněné pozorování denního programu v ústavu. Analýza se zaměří i na dokumenty, které jsou součástí chodu institucí. Cílem výzkumu je zjistit, zda se v ústavu odehrávají aktivity, které podporují konstrukci tradičních představ o feminitě a maskulinitě. Zda je rozdíl ve výchově chlapců a dívek, v přístupu k nim a nároků, na nich kladených.

Abstract:

This work deals with projection and formation of gender and gender roles in the education of children in juvies. It analyzes juvies as a form of total institution whose aim is resocialization of individuals in accordance with the dominant social values and norms. Work is based on qualitative research focused on the potential impact of this institution and its employee, the formation of gender and gender roles of clients. The methods used for data collection are interviews with four caregivers and participant observation daily program at the institute. The analysis focus on documents that are part of the operation of the institutions. The aim of the research is to determine whether the institution uses activities that promote the construction of traditional notions of femininity and masculinity. Whether the difference in the education of boys and girls, access to them and claim them asked.
