Analysis of teachers' approaches to support measures for pupils with mild mental disabilities in primary school

Abstract:

Lehké mentální postižení patří k nejčastějším, z celkového počtu mentálních postižení je to okolo 80 %. Deficity žáků s lehkým mentálním postižením oproti žákům intaktním spočívají například ve zkrácené době koncentrace, stereotypním myšlení, narušené paměti, nízké sebekontrole, nesamostatnosti a nedostatečném smyslovém vnímání. K tomu, aby naplnili své vzdělávací potřeby, potřebují podpůrná opatření. Tato podpůrná opatření lze chápat jako zastřešující pojem pro úpravy ve vzdělávání. Teoretická část shromažďuje poznatky o lehkém mentálním postižení, o jeho vlivu na vzdělávání a podpůrných opatřeních, která upravují a zkvalitňují vzdělávání jedinců s lehkým mentálním postižením. Praktická část představuje metodu kvalitativního výzkumu, a to konkrétně deset polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s učiteli na základních školách, kteří ve své třídě vzdělávají žáka s lehkým mentálním postižením.

Abstract:

Mild mental disabilities are among the most common, of the total number of mental disabilities it is about 80%. Deficits of pupils with mild mental disabilities compared to intact pupils are, for example, shortened concentration times, stereotypical thinking, impaired memory, low self-control, independence, and insufficient sensory perception. They need support measures to meet their educational needs. These support measures can be seen as an overarching concept for adjustments in education. The theoretical part gathers knowledge about mild mental disabilities, its impact on education and support measures that regulate and improve the education of individuals with mild mental disabilities. The practical part presents the method of qualitative research, namely ten semi-structured interviews with teachers in primary schools who educate a pupil with a mild mental disability in their classroom.
