Interactions between fungi and bacteria in mixed biofilms with a focus on their use for biodegradation of organopolutants

Abstract:

Bakteriální a houbové kultury jsou známé svou schopností degradovat organopolutanty a jsou využívány při čištění znečištěné vody. Tato práce shrne dosavadní znalosti vzniku a chování monoorganismálních a smíšených biofilmů, jejich význam v přírodě a biotechnologiích z hlediska bioremediace. V první části experimentální práce byla studována houbová kultura Irpex lacteus imobilizovaná na pevném substrátu (polyamidové drátěnky) z hlediska schopnosti houbové kultury degradovat syntetické barvivo Remazol Brilliat Blue R v různých koncentracích a zda je dekolorizace barviva závislá na přítomnosti využitelného zdroje uhlíku v médiu (Kirkovo minerální médium obsahující glukosu). V druhé části byla studována houbová kultura Irpex lacteus společně s bakteriálním kmenem Serratia marcescens z hlediska schopnosti opakovaného odbourávání syntetického barviva Remazol Brilliant Blue R v závislosti na množení bakterií.

Abstract:

Bacterial and fungal cultures are known for their ability to degrade organopolutants and are used for cleaning polluted water. This composition summarizes the current knowledge and behavior of monoorganismal and mixed biofilms and their role in nature with respekt to thein use in biotechnology and bioremediation. In the first part of the experimental work a fungal culture of Irpex lacteus immobilized on solid substrate (polyamide scouring pads) was studied with the aim to demonstrate the ability of degradation of synthetic dye Remazol Blue R Brilliat used at different concentrations and, also, whether dekolorization of dyes depended on the presence of usable carbon source in the medium (Kirk's mineral medium containing glucose). In the second part of the fungal culture of Irpex lacteus was studied hen mixed with the bakterium Serratia marcescens with the aim to measure the degradation of the synthetic dye Remazol Brilliant Blue R in the presence of bacterial cells.
