Dual morality: Critical reflection of the gift in relation to begging in the context of homelessness

Abstract:

Práce rozpracovává tématiku bezdomovectví a daru a snaží se o nalezení vzájemných souvislostí mezi nimi. Vliv, jenž má dar získaný aktivitou žebrání na přechod z krátkodobého do dlouhodobého bezdomovectví, nebyl doposud dostatečně prozkoumán. Práce je teoretickou sekundární analýzou, jejímž cílem je právě popis vztahu mezi aktem obdarovávání v rámci žebrání a dlouhodobým bezdomovectvím, tedy stavem, kdy jedinec již překročil bod návratu do většinové společnosti a přijal za svou a trvalou bezdomoveckou identitu. Předmětem analýzy je zejména vztah mezi procesem utváření bezdomovecké identity a žebráním. Teoreticky je práce ukotvena v sociálně-vědním zpracování daru a bezdomovectví s návazností na Bourdieho pojetí sociálního prostoru. Dar je v práci analyticky pojímán jako spojnice mezi většinovou společností a třídou nejchudších.

Abstract:

Thesis develops themes of homelessness and gift and try to find the interrelationship between them. Influence, that has acquired the gift from begging activity for the transition from short-term to long-term homelessness, has not been sufficiently explored. Thesis is a theoretical secondary analysis whose purpose is to describe the relationship between an act of generosity in the context of begging and long-term homelessness, thus condition, where an individual has passed the point of returning to mainstream society and embraced a permanent homeless identity. The object of analysis is particularly the relationship between the process of homeless identity formation and begging. Theoretically, the work is anchored in social-scientific processing of gift and homelessness with relation to Bourdieu's concept of social space. The gift is in thesis analytically conceived as a link between the majority and the poorest class.
