Warrants and comparison of their pricing models

Abstract:

Cíl mé diplomové práce je stanoven jako analýza derivátových cenných papírů – warrantů, analýza oceňovacích modelů warrantů a jejich následná komparace. Analýze warrantů bude předcházet úvod do teorie derivátů obecně a specifikace jednotlivých druhů. Samotná analýza warrantů rozebírá jak jednotlivé typy, tak i exotické druhy warrantů, problematiku vnitřní a časové hodnoty warrantů a činitele, ovlivňující jejich hodnotu. V části, pojednávající o oceňovacích modelech warrantů, se seznámíme s jejich dvěma nejznámějšími a nejpoužívanějšími oceňovacími modely, binomickým a Black-Scholesovým modelem. Po teoretickém úvodu, odvození, výhodách a nevýhodách, a předpokladech, jež tyto modely mají splňovat, bude následovat praktické využití obou modelů a zároveň jejich vzájemné porovnání.

Abstract:

The goal of my diploma thesis is the analysis of the derivative securities – warrants, the analysis of their pricing models and the comparison of these models after that. Before the warrants analysis I have introduced the theory of derivatives in general and the specification of the every single type. The warrant analysis itself is concerned with the individual types of them and the exotic warrants as well, the problems of the intrinsic and time value of warrants and the factors affecting the value of warrants. In the part of this thesis, concerning the pricing models of warrants, we will become acquainted with the most famous and used pricing models, the binomial and the Black-Scholes formulas. After the theoretical introduction, the derivation, the advantages and disadvantages of the pricing models and the assumptions, which have to be met by the both of the formulas, there will be shown the use of them in practice, together with the mutual comparison of these models.
