První část práce shrnuje přehled poznatků o zákonu Sarbanes-Oxley čerpaných z různých zdrojů, uvádí vybrané části zákona, popisuje hlavní účastníky regulačního procesů a vysvětluje pojem Corporate Governance. Jsou zde popsány sekce 302 a 404 zákona Sarbanes-Oxley se shrnutím současných trendů ve společnostech, které podléhají regulačním opatřením.
