Data Management in the context of RPA

Abstract:

Předmětem této práce je využití Data Managementu v prostředí Robotické procesní automatizace neboli RPA. Práce se věnuje problematice zajištění kvalitní správy a řízení dat v prostředí RPA. Cílem této diplomové práce je vytvořit sadu doporučení pro aplikaci Data Managementu v rámci implementace RPA a ověřit tato doporučení na základě konkrétní implementace RPA. Sada doporučení je definována na základě rešerše v oblasti Data Managementu a Robotické procesní automatizace. V rámci rešerše byl využit DAMA-DMBOK rámec, který definuje standardy a postupy pro správu dat. Doporučení jsou nejprve stanovena pro jednotlivé oblasti Data Managementu a následně jsou sesumírována do sady doporučení. Definovaná sada doporučení je ověřena pomocí kvalitativního výzkumu formou případové studie podle Yin. Případová studie se zabývá dvěma případy implementace RPA v bankovním prostředí, na kterých jsou stanovená doporučení studována a v závěru je zhodnocena jejich role v jednotlivých případech. Implementace RPA pro sledované případy je provedena pomocí nástroje Blue Prism, který je rovněž představen v této práci. Přínosem této práce je ověřená sada doporučení pro aplikaci Data Managementu v prostředí RPA.

Abstract:

The subject of this thesis is the utilization of Data Management in the context of Robotic Process Automation (RPA). The thesis addresses the issue of ensuring high-quality Data Management and Data Governance in the context of RPA. The goal of this thesis is to create a set of recommendations for applying Data Management within an RPA implementation and to validate these recommendations against a specific RPA implementation. The set of recommendations is defined based on research in the fields of Data Management and Robotic Process Automation. The research utilizes the DAMA-DMBOK framework, which defines standards and practices for Data Management. The recommendations are first defined for each Data Management area and then summarized into a set of recommendations. The defined set of recommendations is validated through qualitative research in the form of a case study according to Yin. The case study examines two cases of RPA implementation in a banking environment, where the previously defined recommendations are studied, and their role in each case is evaluated. The implementation of RPA for the studied cases is done using the Blue Prism tool, which is also introduced in this paper. The contribution of this thesis is a validated set of recommendations for the application of Data Management in an RPA environment.
